One of the cutting-edge solutions is raising the density of racking to maximize storage space and utilize multiple shuttles to maximize retrieval/storage efficiency, this is commonly applied to small package storage system.
The shuttle car is designed to shuttle among densely arranged racking to pick and place the packages, to achieve that, it needs to equip a pair of extendable devices to retrieve package onto shuttle or place package onto racking. Accordingly, telescopic slide is considered the most suitable mechanism to fulfill the design concept.
Speaking to selection of telescopic slide, the slide is required to possess extreme durability and high level precision features, as each shuttle is nonstop working during the day, thousands of package pick-and-place routine is no doubt expected in single day. To meet the strict criteria, Sliding Systems were able to cooperate with our manufacturing partner Saibo to develop a series of hardened telescopic slides. The slide is featuring hardened ball raceways up to 58+4 HRC, the compact structure allows 4 points bearing contact with zero clearance, finished with black phosphorus surface to strengthen corrosion protection. Creating a robust telescopic slide that is able to withstand over 1 million cycles with minimal surface wear and deflection, perfect for AS/RS shuttles!
